Great to see some of our Year 6 girls take advantage of the Bikeability training we offer here.
It’s led by fully-qualified instructors from the Life Cycle UK charity, and focuses on teaching young people safety and proficiency on the roads.
The Level 2 training our girls are receiving aims to develop riders’ skills or cycling on single-lane roads and simple junctions, with mostly moderate motor traffic flows. The course runs over five one and a half hour sessions, and the girls encounter vehicles with progressively greater frequency in each module, to prepare them for cycling on more complex, often busier, roads and junctions.
“Cycling confidently and safely on the road is an important life skill,” explains Headteacher Mrs Brown.
“Not only does it help young people make healthier lifestyle choices, that are good for the environment, it also develops confidence, so I am delighted to see these girls taking part.”
