Top marks from the Good Schools Guide

School generic square We were delighted to receive the reports written by the Good Schools Guide following their visit in November. They write independent, unbiased reviews of schools up and down the country, and were extremely positive about both our Junior and Senior Schools.

Having spent the morning in the Junior School, meeting the Headteacher, staff and pupils, they concluded, “Send your girl here if you want her to be shown masses of opportunity in a place where she can stay young in a ‘have-a-go’, ‘risk-taking culture’, with every chance of going on to an academically competitive senior school for which she will have been brilliantly and enjoyably prepared.”

In addition, they described it as a place which, “strives hard to provide opportunities for everyone to shine.”

The afternoon was then spent in the Senior School. Following a tour of the site, and a meeting with the Head, they spoke informally to lots of students and members of staff, and stopped to observe several lessons. They concluded that ours is a school which produces, “‘strong females’ (to quote an approving mother) who are allowed to be who and what they want to be.”

In the report, they also paid tribute to our high academic standards when they said, “Academically selective but claims to take girls who are ‘average or above’ – so those excellent results must be proof of top-class teaching and students’ hard work.”

Speaking of the published reports, Chair of Governors Andrew Hillman said, ““The positive feedback we have received is testament to the hard work of our staff, but also recognises the calibre and talent of our students.”

“Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or in our performance spaces, the girls' outstanding endeavours were noted. They in turn, spoke about their school with pride, and were open, articulate and thoughtful in their responses. This report pays credit them.”

“There is much for us all to celebrate here.”
