Merritt Moore ballet dancer and quantum physicist | Redmaids' High School
One of our talented Year 9 students has recently passed her Piano DipABRSM with Distinction.
Yuying, who is a music scholar at Redmaids’ High, has achieved something incredible, especially at her age. This qualification is roughly equivalent to study at the first year of University or Music College and requires the demonstration of musical skills and knowledge beyond the performance itself.
“Achieving this piano Diploma ABRSM is a great feeling, as I spent a long time preparing for it and it’s good to know that hard work eventually pays off,” says Yuying.
“Music teachers here at our school are all very encouraging and many clubs are held during lunch breaks and after school to help with music exams,” continues Yuying, “for example, music theory club, aural club, as well as numerous ensembles. Not only are they beneficial in regards to training, playing and listening skills, but also great fun to get involved in.”
Director of Music at Redmaids’ High, Stephanie Harrison said, “Yuying is an incredibly talented musician who contributes hugely to the musical life of Redmaids' High. In addition to playing the piano as a soloist and in our piano quintet, Yuying is also an excellent violinist co-leads the second violins in our school chamber orchestra.
“Yuying also sings in our Youth Choir and is enjoying performing in the chorus as part of our school musical production of My Fair Lady this term. We are so proud of her for this huge achievement and look forward to supporting her in her future musical pursuits.”
Massive congratulations to Yuying from all at Redmaids’ High – there aren’t many Year 9s who have letters to put after their name!
