Emma wins the 'Bess Fowler Trophy' at the Bristol Eisteddfod
Last week, staff, parents and students enjoyed two nights of entertainment, when Years 5 and 6 staged their annual school production.
This year's play, ‘Let the Games Begin’ tackled an important theme, which is how much young people miss out on if they spend too much time staring at screens.
The play opens with an old man showing his grandchildren a set of seven-sided dice. Despite his warnings not to touch them, the children can’t resist rolling the dice, and are immediately transported to the strange land of Lady Fortune.
Each of them must compete in a game of their choice to win their freedom, and so we see them take part in Monopoly, Cluedo and Chess. Of course, all’s well that ends well as the children outwit Lady Fortune, and return home having learned a few important lessons.
The performance involved singing, dancing and acting – with some outstanding individual performances, as well as some rousing, toe-tapping whole-cast numbers.
As Headteacher Mrs Brown said, "What a night! Well, two in fact."
*Every girl gave their best, singing their hearts out, performing choreography and providing an engaging and joyous experience for the audience. The cheers at the end were evidence of that."
