First-class netball coaching | Redmaids' High School
Congratulations to Erin in Year 8 who has been awarded a place on a Cyber First Course run by the Cyber First Security Centre which is part of GCHQ.
The course is specifically for girls and is part of a drive to get more women into cyber technology. It aims to increase understanding of the different areas within Cyber Security, such as digital forensics, cryptography, penetration testing and open source intelligence. It also gives participants the opportunity to hear from industry professionals.
For Erin, her interest started when she attended a science fair in Year 7, found the GCHQ stand, and went home with a job application form!
In Year 8, she was part of a team that represented the school in a Cyber First competition and managed to get through to the last round.
Since then she has been trying to increase her knowledge of the cyber-world, so applied for the course via the GCHQ website just before lockdown, and was delighted to hear she had received a place.
