The Bristol Schools 48-Hour Film Challenge is back!
This June we are celebrating creativity. On 16 June, our GCSE and A-Level students will be showcasing their work in a unique exhibition. The school has invited parents, staff and friends to a private view of their Photography and Fine Artwork. This exhibition is a culmination of the months of hard work our students have put in and it will give everyone the opportunity to admire their outstanding art pieces.
Our students are devoted and enthusiastic artists who have created a fantastic body of work for everyone to see. We feel particularly proud of the work they produced, their unconventional perspective and maturity. The exhibition will be held in the PAC, from 7pm to 9pm, and there will be a wide range of artwork on display. The visitors will enjoy a music performance by ‘The Whitson Quartet’ and there will also be refreshments of non-alcoholic beverages.
For those who will not be able to attend, the Private View exhibition will be open to public over the weekend 18 & 19 June, from 11am to 5pm, as part of the second big arts’ event of the month: the BS9 Arts Trail Event! Both Senior and Junior Schools will be venues for the event and will host the exceptional work of our students. In 2019, the event was a massive success with over 500 people attending it. The public, will have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the artwork in our beautiful grounds. The visitors will be inspired, and probably not believe the artwork has been made by students.
Ms Sims, Head of the Arts Department, at Redmaids’ High Senior School, commented: “We are really looking forward to the Private View, an opportunity to showcase the work of the Year 11 and Year 13 students work. Work is extremely diverse again this year, we have photorealist architectural painting, burnt winged life size figures, UV photography, stunning digital painting and dynamic film making. Themes explored this year include the war in Ukraine, fantasy worlds, gender, portraiture, urban environment, mental health, landscapes, still life, anxiety, decay they list goes on! Exciting and personal the work is thought provoking, there is something for everyone.“
There is always something magic and almost healing when we come across pieces of art. We warmly invite you to see the exceptional work of our students and immerse into this creative and thought-provoking experience.
