Student art and design on public display | Redmaids' High School
Recently, we told you about Ms Hull, our specialist sports coach who is leading the way for netball, both in and out of Redmaids' High. But it's not just sport that our staff excel at outside of school.
Mrs Duncan (pictured), our Art Technician was selected to display two pieces of artwork in the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition, which is an amazing feat for one of our brilliant in-house artists.
Held every year since 1769, the Summer Exhibition displays works in a variety of mediums and genres by emerging and established artists.
Mrs Duncan is inspired by forms and light invisible to the naked eye, finding beauty in the realms of science, astronomy and microscopy. She uses different printmaking techniques. The first piece on display is created using a printmaking process called 'Valo'.
The second piece is created from thousands of burnt dots, made using a soldering iron, and called 'Particulate'.
We're so proud of Mrs Duncan and the recognition she's received, and the skills, experience and knowledge she is able to impart to our students.
If you'd like to find out more about art in the Senior School, why not join us for our upcoming Open Event on Saturday 2 October?
