Success for our Junior and Senior judo teams | Redmaids' High School
Following her bronze medal success at the Commonwealth Games this summer, we were delighted to kick-start our week with an inspiring assembly from British judo champion LeLe Nairne, who we are fortunate enough to have as our lead judo coach at Redmaids’ High.
Lele shared her journey with our junior pupils, from starting judo at age 8, to discovering a passion for the sport and learning the valuable lesson of resilience throughout her career.
She encouraged the girls to always believe in themselves, keep trying and never give up, even when faced with setbacks. Lele delivered a powerful message about how judo has enabled her to build confidence, develop new skills and courage, make friends and above all, have fun.
The biggest achievements of her career include the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, and of course, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games this summer, where she secured a fantastic bronze medal in the –57kg category, representing Team England.
Thank you, Lele, for coming in and showing our girls where dedication, determination and resilience can lead!
