The Junior School appoint a new Deputy Head. | Redmaids' High School
We are delighted to announce that our Junior School has been awarded the Mental Health and Wellbeing badge, by Bristol City Council.
The Healthy Schools Team said of our application, “The school has worked hard to promote good mental health and wellbeing for the whole school community.
“They have strong leadership, ensuring a whole school approach to mental health and they demonstrate strong values to support this.
“There is frequent consultation with pupils and they use this feedback to inform changes in their approach to mental health. They also help pupils to develop important skills like resilience, metacognition and self-advocacy.
“Parents and carers are also consulted on a regular basis and the feedback includes very positive comments about the school environment. 'A vibrant and happy community, everyone is involved in everything and this creates a special buzz that has become a key feature of the school', said one parent."
Mrs Newton, the Junior School lead on Pastoral Care and Wellbeing welcomed this recognition saying, “We take positive mental health, for both staff and students, very seriously.
“Of course we have the right policies, procedures and training in place, but ultimately our strength lies in the fact that we are a close knit community that really does look out for each other.
“This has proved to be so important - particularly at this moment in time.”
