Redmaids’ High juniors help Australian wildlife | Redmaids' High School
It was wonderful to be able to bring our Junior School girls together again, to perform in front of a live audience.
The anticipation was quite palpable as the girls enjoyed their final rehearsal before welcoming friends and family in to school to enjoy our ‘Around the World’ Autumn Ensembles Concert.
It started with the school orchestra performing Russian Roulette and a Tasty Tango, and was followed by the Wind Band performing Sur le Point d’Avignon a traditional French tune.
Our Handbells group then took to the stage to play a traditional English tune, which sounded delightfully crisp and clear. The String Group played a French folk song by Vivaldi and the Flute Group played a German Waltz by Mozart.
The evening finished with the Junior School Choir singing Under the Same Sky by Kate Courage.
The Senior School’s Director of Music Mrs Harrison, was also there to enjoy the event.
“It is encouraging to see such a wide range of instruments being played,” she commented, “and for the girls to gain experience of playing and performing in groups.
“This will really help to prepare them for the extensive range of opportunities we provide for them to perform in the Senior School.”
