Senior School siblings create handmade jewellery for charity

Senior School siblings create handmade jewellery for charity!

Sisters Emma and Lucy, who are in Year 7 and Year 10 at Redmaids’ High School, have been keeping themselves busy during the recent lockdown, making handmade earrings to sell, with £2 from every sale going to charity.

The entrepreneurial siblings have created a range of beautiful, affordable earrings, and set themselves a target of raising £20 for Cancer Research. When it came to choosing the charity they wanted to donate to, the girls selected one that is close to their hearts. Lucy said, “We decided to go with Cancer Research, as it is an important charity to many, and also to us as our granny is recovering from cancer herself, and we are grateful for the research done in order to help her overcome it.”

Eager to use their new initiative as a good learning experience, the girls worked hard to do as much independently from their parents as possible and have even set up their own website to sell their creations on. Just over a week after launching their website, they have already raised £62 for Cancer Research, smashing their original target!

Jo Marsden, Head of Year 7 commended the girls, saying “This is a wonderful example of initiative and creativity with a charitable element too. I was so impressed by the quality of their products and website not to mention the efforts required to set it up! Well done to both the girls.”
