New LUMINARY magazine is out | Redmaids' High School
Having won the County Championships a few weeks before, our U13 team travelled to Millfield to compete in the Regional Finals.
Following three superb pool matches, which saw them score ten goals and concede none, they went straight into the quarter-final and the knock out stages.
The girls were playing well and growing in confidence with every match. In the quarter-final they beat a strong Exeter side 5-1 to take them into the semi-final.
In this match against Blundell's, despite a slightly nervous start, a great goal from Martha put the team one up. Shortly afterwards, a super strike from Lilly took the team through to the regional final.
Here, our girls faced an extremely well-drilled team from All Hallows, but they never gave up. Towards the end of the match, Lilly made a powerful strike from the top of the D to secure their place as Regional Champions.
Miss Maggs, Director of Sport paid tribute to the team, saying, “We wish this talented team of girls every success as they head to the national hockey finals in 2020.”
