Lucy receives national musical recognition | Redmaids' High School
Not one, not two, but three Redmaids’ High School students have been selected to attend the England Hockey National Age Group Squad (NAGS) assessment camps.
Having trained all year at the England Hockey Regional Performance Centres, Alice (Y13), Jenny (Y12) and Saskia (Y10) were all chosen to represent the South West region in the highly prestigious Futures Cup, which took place in August.
From there, players were selected for NAGS. This is the highest honour obtainable for a junior hockey player, and these players will attend training camps and play international matches, often involving overseas travel.
The first NAGS assessment camp takes place this month in Shropshire. If the girls are successful, they will then be invited to a second camp in October, from which the final NAGS squad will be chosen.
Miss Maggs, Director of Sport at Redmaids’ High School said, “To have three students, from one school, playing at this level is really quite remarkable.
"I am extremely proud of these girls, who have worked so hard to get to this stage, and wish them every success for the coming months.”
