A winning netball season | Redmaids' High School
We’re thrilled to announce that the Severn Stars netball franchise has chosen Redmaids’ High School to be the location for its new training academy, the only one in Bristol and one of only 10 in the South West region.
We’ll be hosting the Under 17 Nova Academy, which develops young netball talent in the South West, through first class coaching, training and competitions and is part of the Severn Stars Performance Pathway, the next step of progression from U15 County Academies and prior to Severn Stars U19 Netball Performance League (NPL) team.
Nova Academies provide talented players with weekly training sessions, strength and conditioning programmes and provision, high level technical training, sports therapy and off-court support. A successful trial is required to join, which will assess players’ ability and potential.
Leading the programme as Head Coach will be Kellie Hull, the school’s dedicated netball coach and PE teacher. Miss Hull has been the Severn Stars Under 21 coach since 2019, so is experienced in helping talented players through the Netball pathway.
Director of Sport at Redmaids’ High, Claire Maggs said, “We are delighted to become one of only ten academies in the region. It is an outstanding achievement for the school and we are very fortunate to have an excellent player and coach in our PE department who is already part of the Severn Stars set up as co-head coach for the Under 21 side. This is a great opportunity for young, talented netball players to come onto our Westbury site to experience our fantastic facilities and coaching expertise.”
We are proud of our reputation for outstanding sporting provision as a school across all sports, with our Under 16 and Under 14 netball teams placing in regional school finals. Our offer will be improved even further following the opening of The Lawns, our purpose built sports facility near Cribbs Causeway, which will be launched in readiness for the new school term.
Keen netball players can attend a trial this September by following this link. To attend the trials, players must have been born in 2005 or more recently.
