British orienteering champions

British orienteering champions

On Sunday, 22 students from both the senior and junior schools competed in the British Schools' Orienteering Championships, held at Black Park in Berkshire.

This competition draws the best school orienteerers from all over Britain, with teams from as far as Scotland and Cumbria taking part this year.

Our girls excelled across many of the age classes, having honed their skills at local events in Bristol.

Years 6, 7, 8 and 10 all finished in second place for their age, and incredibly, the Year 5 team went one step further to take the title of British Champions in their age range.

Overall, the juniors took 4th place out of all the primary schools, but most impressive of all was the Senior Team, who took the top spot to become the best Secondary School team in the country - even more British Champions!

Speaking of this news, Mrs Brown, the Headteacher at Redmaids' High Junior School said, "While recognising the tremendous success of these girls, we must also pay tribute to Mr Hayward from the Junior School who leads the orienteering activities with immense passion and commitment."
