Redmaids' High represent South West at Junior Inter-Regional Orienteering Championships

During the first week of the Easter holidays, a group of girls from Years 5 and 6 and five members of staff set off on an unforgettable ski trip to the Italian resort of Claviere. What followed was a truly action-packed week filled with challenge, laughter and remarkable achievement, both on and off the slopes.
From the very beginning, the trip provided a valuable opportunity for the girls to discover a new sense of independence and resilience. For many, it was their first time away from home for nearly a week, and they rose to the challenge with positivity and maturity. Managing their own routines, organising their kit and supporting one another helped them to develop important life skills that can only be truly fostered through a residential experience.
On the slopes, the progress made by every group was nothing short of incredible! The more experienced girls impressively completed black runs, with some even exploring small sections off-piste with their instructor. Meanwhile, others cruised down the mountain smoothly, having never put skis and boots on before! Every girl developed independence and trust in their own skills while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings.

Food was a real highlight of the week. Each day started with a filling breakfast, providing the perfect fuel for the slopes ahead. Lunchtimes offered a different pasta dish each day, keeping everyone energised and satisfied. Pizza night was a firm favourite—so popular, in fact, that the girls requested and enjoyed a second one later in the week.
Evenings were just as enjoyable, with a variety of après-ski activities bringing everyone together. Highlights included a lively talent show, allowing the girls to express their creativity and teamwork, a competitive quiz night, and a cosy movie night in pyjamas with cuddly toys. There was also time to explore the village, including souvenir shopping and warming up with delicious hot chocolate in a local café.
Overall, the Claviere ski trip was a unique learning experience that combined personal growth, skill development and independence while creating incredible memories for all!
