Student artwork to appear at Glastonbury Festival

Seven students have won a school competition to have their art work displayed at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival.

In total, the Art Department had over 90 entries to design a banner that would ‘change the hearts and minds of the festival goers.’

The girls’ designs explored themes including gender equality, plastic use and its effect on our environment, disability, diversity, climate change, LGBT awareness, recycling, the harmful effects of smoking, Brexit, mental health awareness and animal welfare.

But over half of the entries explored environmental concerns, and the range of issues affecting us and our planet today.

Following a careful selection process the following girls had their work chosen: Sophie (Year 9) for "Say no to plastics" (pictured), Florence (Year 8) for “Save the bees”, Zahra (Year 8) for “I've BIN recycling, Have you?", Rosie House (Year 8) for "Don't let me drown", Emma (Year 8) for "Cows are coming home. Take your litter with you!”, Georgia (Year 8) for “We are living on this planet as if we had another one", and Leanne (Year 13) for “The world is in your hands”.

The girls’ designs have been made into seven 6ft by 9ft banners and they will be displayed at the Glastonbury Festival by the Pyramid stage, Park Field and the Green fields.

A huge well done to everyone that took part.
