Celebrating Our Extraordinary GCSE Results

1-Aug-20-2026-08-30-30-9529-AMWhat a morning it has been today celebrating the extraordinary GCSE results achieved by our Year 11 students.

An amazing 63% of grades were awarded 9-8 (A* - A), significantly higher than the national average of 12.3%, with 82% of grades awarded 9-7 (national average being 21.8%) and 98% of grades awarded 9-5 (A*-C).

We have celebrated strong results across a broad range of departments. In both English Language and English Literature 100% of grades achieved 9-5 (A*-C) whilst 99% of students achieved 9-5 in Maths, and an impressive 100% of students achieved grades 9-7 in both Art and Latin. There was also considerable success across Modern Foreign Languages, with 100% students securing grades 9-8 in Russian, 88% achieving grades 9-7 in French and 86% achieving grades 9-7 in Spanish. Strong results were also seen across a range of other subjects, with 92% of students securing grades 9-7 in Food and Nutrition, 86% in in Religious Studies, 83% in Business, 85% in Biology, 81% in Chemistry and 83% in Physics.

The results across all areas are a testament to the high quality of academic guidance and inspiration provided by our staff, alongside the expert pastoral care that supports students throughout their school journey. Together, these provide a strong foundation for students to thrive academically, develop their interests and feel confident as they progress to Sixth Form, where they can explore their chosen subjects in greater depth. We are particularly delighted that 19 students from this year group, who achieved all 8's and 9's, have chosen to continue their successful journey and stay with us for their final two years at school.

Mrs Rebecca Armsby, Head of Year 11, said, “We are immensely proud of our Year 11 and all that they have achieved. Over the course of their GCSE studies, they have worked incredibly hard, while continuing to embrace the opportunities and experiences that make Redmaids’ High school life so special. It has been a real privilege to share this journey with them and to watch them grow into the remarkable young women they are today. We celebrate not only their successes, but how far they have come. It has been a joy to see all that they have accomplished, and we look forward to seeing where their talents and ambitions take them in the years ahead."

Mrs Jane Prescott, the School's Interim Head, commented, “These extraordinary GCSE results are a reflection of the hard work and determination of our students, and the dedication of the staff who have supported them along the way. We are incredibly proud of what this year group has achieved, not only academically but also in becoming confident and capable young women. I wish them every success as they move on to their next steps.”
