Outstanding GCSE Results

image00014Our Year 11 students were elated after receiving an outstanding set of GCSE results today.   

We are so proud of all that students have achieved as they mark the end of their GCSE journey and look ahead to their next steps in Sixth Form; 43% of all grades were awarded a 9, and 67% of grades an 8 or 9, with truly wonderful success across the cohort.   

The school enjoyed strong success across a number of departments, with over 50% of students achieving Grade 9 in English Language, Biology, Art, Food and Nutrition, History, Music and PE. Additionally, over 80% of students achieved Grades 9-7 (the equivalent of A*-A under the previous grading system) in 17 departments, a truly wonderful achievement.  

The results across all areas are a continued testament to the support and guidance offered by staff, as well as the expert pastoral care that allowed students to navigate through their chosen subjects’ trying moments.  

As always, there has been great individual success among the cohort. 52% of the year group achieved five or more Grade 9s. This is up from 38% last year and 19% in 2019. 17 students achieved nine or more Grade 9s with particular congratulations to Anna, Astrid and Matilda who each achieved eleven grade 9s; an outstanding achievement.   

Success for each of our students is always about more than grades. We are delighted with the way every girl in this cohort has contributed and grown throughout the course of their GCSE studies. These results do justice to the efforts of all but are only a small part of the overall picture of who they are and who they will become.  

Head Paul Dwyer said, “We are thrilled to celebrate with our students today as they received an outstanding set of results. All students have worked so hard over the last two years and should be rightly proud of what they have attained as a result. They have been warm and wonderful supporters of one another, and a true joy to work with as a cohort. 

“The dedication they have shown to their studies has been admirable, and I am delighted that they have been richly rewarded for all their hard work. We hope they all enjoy celebrating, and we look forward to welcoming many of them back in September as they begin Sixth Form.”
