Making music during lock-down | Redmaids' High School

Eight students from Years 8 to 10 have been very busy since the lock-down began recording pieces of music to create a virtual concert for St Monica's Trust.

The girls, who play a variety of instruments, volunteer each Friday evening by performing in the dementia care home on Cote Lane while the residents have their evening meal.

When lock-down started they wanted to continue providing music for all the residents of the five St Monica's sites across the city.

The girls recorded themselves at home and the individual performances were carefully compiled and edited by our Music Technician Mr Wyatt, without whom this project would not have been possible. The concert is 40 minutes long and includes a mixture of solos and ensembles.

One of the staff members at St Monica's wrote to the Music Department to say, “I've been sharing your concert with residents in their rooms. They love it and are really touched and thankful. Thank you."

Well done to Grace, Sarah, Hannah, Alice, Lola, Charlie, Sarah and Téa,
