Congratulations to Lucy in Year 13 who won the 2020 Two Moors Festival's Young Musicians Platform Competition last weekend, playing the oboe.
The competition began in 2002, when the festival itself was still in its infancy, with the aim of providing performance opportunities for talented young musicians.
Now, the competition attracts performers from across the south west region, so the standard of performance is always exceptionally high. As a result, the judging panel consider the winners to be the classical music "stars of the future.”
Speaking of Lucy’s musicianship, Mrs Harrison the Director of Music at Redmaids’ High School said, “We are really proud of Lucy and this latest achievement.
“She is a very talented musician who has won so many accolades in the last year or so, including winning a coveted place on the English Schools' Orchestra 2020, being appointed a City Wait (musician to the Lord Mayor), placing second in the Rotary Young Musician Finals for Avon, and winning the Bristol Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition.
"Winning the Two Moors Festival is another wonderful achievement.”
Lucy is currently studying A Level Music and is in the process of applying to read Music at degree level.
