Fantastic success for our Close Encounters choir who recently found out that they have reached the final of the GSA (Girls' Schools Association) Choir of the Year competition which will take place in Warwick on Sunday 12 March. They are one of only six choirs nationally to reach the final and will be supported by members of the Redmaids' High community who will travel to Warwick to watch the students perform.
Close Encounters is one of five choirs at Redmaids' High, with Close Encounters rehearsing for an hour each week.
The judges will be Simon Lole (Arranger, Broadcaster and Musical Director) who composed the anthem sung at our Founders' Commemoration Day service in 2021, as well as Stephen Wills and Christine Edmunson.
This is a huge achievement, especially with five of eight group members joining the ensemble for the first time in September.
Head of Redmaids' High, Paul Dwyer shared his delight at the news saying, "Congratulations to all involved and we wish you the very best as you prepare for your final performance over the coming weeks."
