We wish Emilia in Year 8 a huge congratulations after she was successful in her application to join the National Children's Orchestra (NCO) for the second year running. This is a fantastic achievement and one she should be very proud of.

Emilia got selected to be in the violin section last year, but unfortunately never actually got to perform due to the pandemic. So when the opportunity arose to audition again, Emilia jumped at the chance.

"This year we had to audition by submitting a video of us playing two different contrasting pieces and three orchestra excerpts," says Emilia. "I played Hoedown by Aaron Copland and Vocalise by Sergei Rachmaninoff. I am really looking forward to playing with the orchestra this year. We will have two residential camps with the orchestra over the coming year, and in a couple of weeks I am performing at Goldsmiths University with the group who were selected last year too."

Emilia is an active member of the music community here at Redmaids' High. She says, "The music department here offers so many opportunities to make music and all the music teachers are very enthusiastic".
