There was excitement in the air as everyone arrived to the fantastic banners put on display by the House captains and quickly face paints and glitter in house colours were applied to legs, arms and faces!
Mr Wyatt and Mrs Bramley-Dymond kept everyone motivated by blasting tunes through-out the day. The Head and Junior Almoners sweet stand had a steady stream of customers as sweets were sold to raise money for ‘Off the Record’ and an ice cream van helped to keep everyone cool by giving out whippy ice creams.
Then there were all the fantastic athletic competitions going on around the site. A whole range of field events from High Jump to Javelin, Discus and Shot Putt on the top field. In the middle of it all, was the 200-metre track where fierce running battles were taking place from fast 100 metre sprints through to longer middle distance 800 metres. There were impressive efforts from all involved and a real sense of team spirit and camaraderie as students in Years 7 – 12 worked together to try and gain points for their House. The top three achievers in each event took to the podium to receive their certificates and a big cheer from Mr Brealey and his cheering crowds.
Other highlights included N Marsden and Z Gibson battle for top high jumper, E McIntosh nearly breaking the 200-metre record and of course the staff relay! All in all, it was a hot, happy and House points winner of a day.
