We were delighted to see our Junior school pupils take to the water again.

In a trip led by outdoor education specialists, Mendip Outdoor Pursuits, the girls headed to the River Yeo at the weekend.

For some it was their first time in a kayak - and they started by learning how to stay safe in the water, how to paddle forwards and backwards, steer and stop. All our beginners will be receiving their British Canoeing ‘Start‘ certificates soon! The more experienced paddlers worked on improving their technique, towards the skills in the Discover Award.

Overall, and most importantly, they all had huge fun!

"Being active and enjoying the great outdoors is so important to our mental and physical health", said Headteacher Mrs Brown. "With this in mind, we create as many opportunities as possible for our girls to have adventures!"
