On returning to school, we were delighted to unveil our Steinway model D grand piano, taking pride of place in our new Redland Hall.

We are one of very few schools in the country to have such an exceptional model. And we stand proudly alongside venues such as the Colston Hall and St George’s Brandon Hill as the only other performance venues to offer an instrument of such exceptional quality.

As Mrs Woodman, Head of Keyboard Studies at Redmaids’ High explained, “This is the gold standard of musical instruments, representing over 160 years of dedication to craftsmanship and uncompromised expression.”

At nine foot in length and weighing almost a ton, this majestic musical instrument — the pinnacle of concert grands — is the overwhelming choice of the world's greatest pianists and for anyone who demands the highest level of musical expression.

Each Steinway piano is made up of 12,000 individual parts, which gives it its own musical character to make it as unique as the person playing it.

With the very best acoustics, state-of-the-art lighting and sounds systems and seating for up to 700 people, Redland Hall is the perfect environment for the Steinway and for the school’s many concerts and productions.

“We feel extremely fortunate that our girls have the opportunity to perform on a piano of such quality and distinction" added Mrs Woodman. "It is also a symbol of the high standard of music we have here."
