We were delighted to welcome alumna and former Head Girl Victoria Winterson to the Junior School today to promote positive mental and physical health.

As the founder of MindRun4Girls Victoria is doing amazing things inspire future generations of strong, grounded and healthy young women.

Having long enjoyed the physical and mental benefits of running, she moved away from a successful career in investment banking to instigate personal change and achieve new goals in her own life. She has subsequently launched a programme for girls that focuses on the mental benefits of running in addition to the physical ones, by mixing simple mindfulness and gratitude techniques with fun running games.

The courses aim to help girls deal with the anxiety of puberty, body self-esteem, pressures of social media, exam stress, friendship and family dynamics and much more.

We know Victoria is onto something big, but we're not alone. She has recently won a grant and a year of mentoring after successfully pitching the idea to a panel at Westminster, which included a former Dragon's Den star.

Victoria said: “I feel honoured and incredibly humble that MindRun4Girls has given me a chance to share such an important message about mental health, the positivity of sport and female empowerment in a public arena. If we all spoke up more about these topics then we would have a greater chance of making a difference to the lives of young people.”

Following her visit to the Junior School, lots of girls have already signed up for her course.

Mrs Brown, Headteacher said, “Victoria’s positive, go-getting attitude really resonates with the ethos we have here at school. She is teaching girls, from a young age, to adopt positive life-style habits – a message that we fully endorse.”
