This weekend, we played host to two memorable musical events, in our outstanding performance space that is Redland Hall.

The hall features a Steinway model D grand piano which ranks us alongside venues such as the Colston Hall and St George’s Brandon Hill in offering an instrument of such exceptional quality. Redland Hall also benefits from state-of-the-art lighting and sounds systems and seating for up to 700 people

On Friday, internationally-acclaimed pianist Graham Caskie and his former student Giordano Ferla performed an evening of solo piano music, featuring works by Brahms, Liszt, Clementi and Beethoven.

Graham Caskie also ran a piano masterclass for students in the afternoon.

Then, on Saturday, over 200 people took part in Mozart’s Requiem – a large-scale event that has been described as an absolute ‘triumph’.

“It was wonderful to see students, parents, teachers, friends and family all performing together,” said the organiser Sarah Hunt, “while raising over £2,000 for the Alzheimer's Society.”

Speaking of the weekend of music-making, Mrs Woodman Head of Keyboard Studies at Redmaids’ High said, “We are extremely fortunate that our girls regularly meet some of the finest classical musicians in the country, at the same time as being able to perform in a venue of immense quality and distinction themselves.”
