We are delighted our girls have been able to resume activities with Mendip Outdoor Pursuits, as Outdoor Education is such an important part of our curriculum but has been restricted during lockdown.
Last week the whole of Year 5 headed to the Mendips for three days of raft building, kayaking, climbing, abseiling and adventure. This week it’s the turn of Year 6.
“It was so much fun”, said Anabelle “We got to build a huge slide which took us straight into the river and I went down it about 15 times.”
Equally enthusiastic was Amaya who described abseiling off the side of a cliff. “It was immensely scary, but great fun,” she explained.
Similarly, Amelie could hardly contain her laughter as she described the moment the raft they had built started capsizing, plunging them all into the river.
“Outdoor Education is embedded in our curriculum for all year groups,” explains Headteacher Mrs Brown, “so our girls get very used to trying new activities.
“We see their self-confidence and resilience grow as they work in teams to overcome challenges, at the same time as having lots of fun.”
