Many congratulations to Gwen (pictured left) and Phoebe, both aged 11 who have been selected for the U14 Avon Hockey Academy Centre, having attended the Development Centre over the summer term.

The Academy Centres are the next step on the England Hockey player pathway.

Both girls were put forward by the Junior school. Speaking of their success, Miss Weeks, Head of Junior School PE said, "This is a tremendous achievement for these talented young players - especially considering they were competing for selection against girls who are up to two school years above them.”

"They are part of a strong cohort of players, so we expect more of their peers to progress through the pathway next year."

Both Gwen and Phoebe have been playing hockey since they were seven and love the game. As Gwen said, "This is another opportunity for us to play hockey and to develop our skills."

"Being so young I didn't think we would make it through this year," added Phoebe, "So we were really pleasantly surprised."
