Entrepreneurial inspiration: ECA sessions with female business owners

Written by Redmaids' High School | Nov 16, 2021 3:30:36 PM

This year, the business and economics department at Redmaids’ High is running an extra-curricular club, where female entrepreneurs chat to students about how to run their own business.

So far the girls have heard from the owner of an upholstery business, a property developer, a café owner and the founder of an online food community.

The next session will give students the chance to quiz Mel Kinnear from Breakwater. She recently started a business with her partner, selling affordable changing robes, designed to keep you warm and dry when you’ve finished surfing or open water swimming, as well as being large enough the get dressed under.

Mrs Moyle, Head of business and economics said, “It’s great to introduce the students to female entrepreneurs from all types of industry, as positive role models. They talk to the girls about how they came up with their idea, how their business works and any challenges they have faced and then students have the opportunity to ask questions at the end.”

If there are any entrepreneurs out there who would like to share their story with our students then please do get in touch with Mrs Moyle by email.

This is just one example of the full and varied ECA timetable on offer at Redmaids’ High.

Don’t forget to register for our senior school entrance exam on Saturday 8 January using the form below.
