It was all hosted by the brilliant Bard himself, an energetic, enthusiastic and endlessly engaging compere, interacting with the audiences throughout. As well as the supreme acting talents on display, the cast showed off their musical talents with beautiful songs and piano accompaniment, alongside a plethora of props.
The purpose of the play was to show the younger audiences the wonder of the Shakespeare, so the greatest compliment that can be paid to the cast, is that they have inspired their audiences to put on their own little Shakespeare plays, discuss their favourite characters (always Bottom!) and even have a go at reading the plays. One audience member described the play as the best play that they had ever seen.
The production was led by Mrs K Markwell, English Teacher and Assistant Head of Year 10 at Redmaids' High: “It was a delight to work with this cast from beginning to end, with their ceaseless professionalism, creativity and sense of fun." and she added "We all laughed a lot during the rehearsals, just as the audiences laughed during performances and I am extremely proud of them all. Three cheers for Shakespeare and the marvellous Year 10s.”
Bravo!
