In the afternoon students were addressed by a number of keynote speakers, including Marvin Rees, whose powerful speech highlighted the importance of environmental work both in schools and the wider Bristol area. Students also took part in presentations showcasing the environmental work happening in their schools and their future aims. The Redmaids' High presentation team did an excellent job, presenting confidentially to a range of invited guests including representatives from the Department for Education's sustainability team.
It was a really inspiring day for our students and we look forward to sharing our future environmental plans with the school community in due course. Thank you to Amelie (Y13), Astrid (Y11), Charlotte (Y10), Emily (Y13), Kate (Y13), Mia (Y13), Shona (Y13) and Sephina (Y9) for representing Redmaids' High so brilliantly at this event.
A report detailing the steps the BEP schools are taking in terms of energy conservation, food sustainability, active travel, improving biodiversity and reducing waste has been produced and you can read it below. It is heartening that so many of our students and students within the BEP schools are so motivated to make positive steps towards a more sustainable future and we will support them and these important causes wherever possible.
