Another year of fantastic A Level results for our Year 13 students

A Level Results Day picsWhat a fantastic day it has been for our Year 13 cohort receiving their A Level results. An amazing 53% of grades were achieved at A* or A, significantly higher than the national average of 28.5%, with 82% of grades achieved at A*-B, and 95% A*-C.

An incredible 22 students (nearly a third of our cohort) achieved 3 or more A*-A grades, with eight students achieving all A* grades in their A Levels. One outstanding student secured 5 A* A Level grades and will be pursuing Medicine at Birmingham. All our students wishing to pursue Medicine secured their first choice Medical School, and overall 88% of students achieved their first choice course.

Clearly, recent world and geopolitical events have piqued interest with a high number of students set to study International Relations and Modern Foreign Languages. Many students have also chosen work place-focused routes and courses with integrated industrial training or study abroad opportunities. These courses include food technology and bio-processing, journalism and meteorology and climate studies. Alongside the university route, the picture for our students pursuing an apprenticeship as an alternative route was equally pleasing. For example, one of our students will be starting a Radiography apprenticeship as a pathway to a medical career.

Several Departments are celebrating very successful results. 100% of students received A*-A in French, over 80% achieved those grades in Government and Politics, and 75% in Spanish. Students also performed particularly well in Economics, History, Maths and Further Maths.

Whilst we are delighted to celebrate top grades, we are thrilled with the progress all of our students make with excellent results secured in subjects ranging from Photography to Sociology.

Director of Sixth Form, Dr Alice England, commented, “Our results across a diverse range of subjects are impressive and I am thrilled that so many of our students are able to confirm their first-choice option either for a university course or apprenticeship. For those planning a gap year, I know they will have an amazing experience before taking their next steps and we will be here to support them in the coming years. The breadth of destinations for our Year 13 cohort is incredibly exciting and I look forward to hearing of their progress and achievements in the future.

Today is never just about acknowledging their academic achievements, but more importantly, celebrating their hard work and dedication over the past two years. The whole team here at school wishes the Class of 2026 all the very best for what is to come.”

The School’s Head, Mr Paul Dwyer, commented, “This year’s A Level results are testament to the dedication of our students and staff over their Sixth Form journey. I wish them all the very best for their next steps – they have been a privilege to get to know and work with over the years and I know they will take forward the very best of Redmaids’ High to the wider world and achieve great things.”

Girls moving into Year 11 in September are welcome to come and see the impact our Sixth Form can have at our Open Evening on Thursday 8 October. To book your place please click HERE.
